Daily Short-hOPT: Living Our Todays

It is only possible to live happily ever after on a day-to-day basis. – Margaret Bonnano

I have always been someone who had a math mind. I actually really enjoy doing some math problems, especially basic calculus. While this probably makes me a little crazy, numbers are something that come easy to me, and I enjoy solving problems.

However, not so long ago, I was reading a book, and it provided me with the most useful formula that I may ever use:

While this seems logical and simple in its theory, the choice of the words immediately struck a chord with me. Why not “TODAY + TOMORROW + THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW + THE NEXT DAY + … = THE REST OF YOUR LIFE”?

We always get caught looking ahead in our lives. We want to know what will happen down the road. We want to have a grasp on our future.

In reality, all we have are our TODAYs. We must make the most of where we are right here and now. We are not promised a tomorrow, a day after tomorrow, or the next day, and our equation could end at any moment.

If we get those extra days, we should be thankful. But, even those days turn into todays as they unfold.

What are you doing with your todays? How are you making the most of them?

Stop wishing away the days you may get when you can make the most of the days you have right now. Stop wasting your todays by choosing to remain upset over trivial matters. Choose to be happy today. When the sun sets and you rise again for a new day, choose to be happy in that today as well.

Only by making every today a happy day can we truly live a life of happily ever after.

Bring your best today!

Love, Noah
